Airbus A320 part 2

Following up my last post about the Airbus A320 plane landing on the Hundson River, link here. At the recent Paris air show Airbus announced the largest aircraft order ever for 200 of the newest version of the A320 aircraft by AirAsia. This order eclipses the previous record set only days earlier for the same aircraft, by IndiaGo carrier. This makes the Airbus A320 the best selling aircraft of all time and makes it likely that Airbus will outsell Boeing (its chirf competitor) for the forth year in a row. Continue reading

The Airbus A320 and the miracle on the Hudson

I recently finished reading a book called ‘Fly by wire’ by William Langewiesche. It’s an enjoyable and easy read, despite some technical detail, about the events surrounding the crash landing of an Airbus A320 on the Hudson River, New York, in January 2009. This book gives an excellent argument for sharing the recognition for the fortunate outcome of the crash between the pilots and the plane designers and I would highly recommend it for an interesting and strangely addictive read.
